The Location of Our Bedouin Camp
Accessibility of Our Desert Camp
Our camp is in the heart of the Wadi Rum Desert, so it’s inaccessible by car or taxi. To reach our campsite, you’ll need a 4WD vehicle or a camel and knowledge of the desert roads.
Don’t worry; we won’t leave you to find it alone! We’ll meet you at our office in Rum Village, which is easily accessible by car, taxi, or public transport.

Accommodation at Our Bedouin Camp
At our camp, you can enjoy a mix of traditional desert living and modern comfort. Whether you prefer the privacy of a cozy tent or an adventurous night under the stars, we have accommodations to suit your needs. Our camp is designed to provide a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Wadi Rum Desert, with all the comforts you need for a restful stay.
Stay in Traditional Goat-Hair Tents
Our camp features ten 2-person and two 5-person tents in traditional goat-hair cabin style. Set in a wide half-moon shape, each tent offers privacy with extra space between them. Inside, you’ll find wooden floors covered with carpets, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Each tent has lighting, single beds, a table, hooks, and a trash can. The 2-person tents have two windows for ventilation, while the 5-person tents have three.
We ensure your comfort with cozy bedding, including pillows, linens, and thick blankets to keep you warm on chilly desert nights.
Private Tents for Your Comfort
We prioritize your privacy and comfort. When booking, you can select your tent preference. We’ll assign it to you if the type you request is available. If not, we’ll offer an alternative option. If you’re traveling solo, you’ll have a private 2-person tent. Groups of three will receive two 2-person tents or one 5-person tent. Families with young children will be given priority for the 5-person tents, and we also offer baby beds. We focus on providing private spaces for all our guests, so we don’t offer dormitory-style tents.
Sleeping Outdoors Near Our Camp
If you’re looking for a unique experience, we offer the chance to sleep under the stars, just a short walk from our camp. We have four secluded spots where you can enjoy the vastness of the desert, the billions of stars above, and stunning valley views at sunrise. This experience, similar to our ‘bivouac camping’ location, offers an unforgettable connection with nature.
We’ll provide all the necessary sleeping gear, including a mattress, sleeping bag, and liner. However, pillows are not provided for this outdoor option. Sleeping outdoors near our camp gives you a true desert adventure while still having access to the comforts of the camp.
Weather Conditions and Your Comfort
We check the weather forecast the day before your arrival. If conditions aren’t suitable for sleeping outdoors, we’ll notify you at check-in and move you to one of our cozy tents to ensure your comfort.

At our Bedouin camp, we’ve combined traditional desert living with thoughtful amenities to ensure your stay is as comfortable as it is authentic. While our camp offers a true desert experience, we haven’t forgotten the small comforts that make a big difference. From our well-maintained bathroom facilities to the inviting communal tent and outdoor lounge area, we’ve designed our camp to provide everything you need for a memorable experience in the heart of Wadi Rum.
The Communal Tent
The communal tent is the heart of our camp—a space for relaxation, conversation, and connection. Here, you can sip sweet Bedouin tea, share stories with fellow travelers, and indulge in traditional Bedouin meals. At times, we enjoy music and dance that bring the culture of Wadi Rum to life.
Inside, you’ll find a spacious, cozy environment featuring a broad bench with plush mattresses and camel saddles, perfect for lounging. There are also tables and stools for gathering and sharing meals and a buffet. The windows offer breathtaking panoramic views of the desert landscape. When the weather gets chilly, we close the windows and light the fire pit to keep the tent warm and inviting. You can also lounge around the fire, sipping tea and enjoying the warmth of the flames.
The Outside Lounge Area
Next to the communal tent is our outdoor lounge area, where we spend warm evenings under the stars. The space features a large bench with thick mattresses and camel saddles, offering comfort as you relax and enjoy the desert atmosphere. When the weather cools, we light the fire pit for warmth and to create a cozy, atmospheric setting.
The Bathroom
Our modern bathroom facility is designed with comfort in mind. It features two showers, each with a dressing area, two Western toilets, and two washbasins. We also use a solar hot water system to provide warm water for the showers.
We take great care to ensure the bathroom is always spotlessly clean and well-maintained for our guests. Please note, however, that we do not provide towels or toiletries, so be sure to bring your own. For a detailed packing list, visit our What to Bring page.
Bedouin cuisine: Our meals and drinks
At Wadi Rum Nomads, meals are a time to savor the rich flavors of Bedouin cuisine. We serve buffet-style meals prepared with care, featuring traditional Bedouin dishes. If you have dietary restrictions, let us know when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs within the limitations of the desert environment.
Breakfast: A Fresh Start to Your Day
Start your day with a simple yet satisfying spread, including bread, labneh, hummus, cheese, olives, halva, jam, tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggs. Pair your meal with a warm cup of Bedouin tea, instant coffee, or bottled water.
Lunch: A Midday Break in the Desert
Lunch features a freshly prepared hot dish, often Galayah Bandura, served with bread and side dishes like hummus, cheese, tuna, and salad. Drinks include bottled water, Bedouin tea, and soda or juice.
Dinner: A Traditional Bedouin Meal
Dinner is a highlight of the day, where you’ll gather to enjoy authentic dishes like Zarb, Khabsah, or Saniyeh. These are served with bread, rice, vegetables, salads, and homemade Moutabal. For dessert, we offer sweets or fresh fruit. Drinks include bottled water, Bedouin tea, and soda or juice.
Bottled Water: Always Available
Bottled water is available throughout your stay to keep you hydrated in the dry desert environment. So there’s no need to bring your own.

Relax in our outdoor lounge area, settle onto the comfortable mattresses, and let the vast desert sky captivate you. Use a stargazing app to locate constellations and planets or spot shooting stars. It’s an experience of wonder and connection with the universe.

Water Conservation: A Precious Resource
Jordan has one of the world’s lowest water availability rates, and Wadi Rum is no exception. With no natural water sources near our camp, we rely on water brought in by tank trucks. To help conserve this precious resource, we provide shared bathroom facilities instead of en-suite bathrooms, which would increase water usage. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this effort, knowing that every small action contributes to a better future for Jordan’s people and nature.
Solar Energy: Harnessing the Sun's Power
Our camp is powered by solar energy, with panels strategically placed on the rocks behind the site to capture sunlight efficiently. This renewable energy source meets our electricity needs while minimizing our environmental impact. The solar energy generated powers lighting in the tents, bathroom, and kitchen and is also used to charge phone and camera batteries.
Minimal Light Pollution for Stargazing
We keep outdoor artificial lighting to a minimum to protect the dark night sky and enhance stargazing. Small soft-tone solar-powered lamps illuminate key areas of the camp, ensuring safe navigation without disturbing the beauty of the stars. With very little light pollution, you’ll experience the desert’s night sky as it should be—clear and filled with stars.

We believe that Wadi Rum is too unique and beautiful to visit just for a place to sleep. That’s why we don’t offer accommodation alone.
