Jordan is an all-round and year-round destination and, therefore, ideal for your Christmas vacation. Our country has a wide variety of culture and nature. And amiable and hospitable people.
In this blog, we share our favorite itinerary for a Christmas vacation. We start with Amman in the north of our country and from there go south to Aqaba.
Amman: a bustling, urban and traditional capital
Start your Christmas vacation in our charming capital, Amman. Downtown, the beating heart of our capital. Visit the ancient ruins and the surrounding coffee shops, souks, and mosques. In the urban west of Amman, you can find many excellent restaurants, bars, cafes, malls, and art galleries. And if you go to the east of Amman, you can get the more traditional and conservative vibes.
Visiting the north of our country makes an excellent day tour. It is everything except a sandpit. Be surprised by the lush green hills filled with olive and fig trees here. Explore Ajloun castle and be surprised by the fantastic views of the surrounding hills. And wander around the historic Roman ruins of Jerash.
Madaba: Christmas between the Byzantine mosaics
Some 40 kilometers southwest of Amman, your next stop will be Madaba. An easygoing market town. Home to one of the largest Christian communities in Jordan. Madaba is known for its extensive collection of Byzantine-era mosaics. The most famous of these is the impressive sixth-century mosaic map of the Holy Land on the floor of St George’s Church. Explore the city on foot. Enjoy your Christmas dinner in one of the excellent restaurants in town. And stay in one of the city’s great hotels.
Don’t forget to explore the area around Mabada. Visit Wadi Jadid, know for its ancient stone dolmen. And follow in the footsteps of Moses and look out over the Promised Land from Mount Nebo. The views are dazzling, especially around sunset time.
The Dead Sea: luxurious relaxing at the lowest point on earth
On your way to your Dead Sea resort, make sure to pass by the Dead Sea panoramic. The museum is excellent, and the views over the Dead Sea and the Judaea mountains are breath-taking. Be ready for the spectacular descend to 420 meters below sea level. Welcome to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Check-in to one of the luxuries resorts on the shoreline. Leave everything behind, and enjoy the moment. Float in the therapeutic water, pamper yourself with beauty treatments, and enjoy the delicious dishes of the Jordanian cuisine.
Petra: one of the seven modern world wonders
Have you already seen one of the modern world wonders? Petra is, without a doubt, our countries most valuable cultural treasure and the most visited tourist attraction. Shielded from the outside world behind an impenetrable barrier of rock, the ancient city of Petra is waiting for you to discover its beauty and its secrets. Be enchanted by this mysterious city.
