The detailed Wadi Rum desert tour Burdah rock bridge plan

Day 1 - Meeting point and start time

We meet each at our office in Rum village for the check-in. Together we enjoy a Bedouin tea and talk about what we have in mind for the day and night. After finishing our drink, there is time for the final preparations. Afterward, we leave Rum village to go out into the desert.

During summertime (daylight saving time), the tour starts at 10 AM (check-in at 9.30 AM), and during wintertime, the tour begins at 9 AM (check-in at 8.30 AM).

Day 1 - In the morning

By jeep, we drive from our office to the north side of Jabal Burdah. It is a fantastic drive with stunning scenery. Therefore we recommend keeping your camera ready. The rest of the morning, we use to hike and scramble Burdah rock bridge. Climbing Burdah rock bridge is technically not that difficult, but some parts are steep. In these places, you might want to use your hands to make the scrambling easier. Close to the bridge is the most challenging part. Along the way, you can already enjoy fantastic views. But once on the rock bridge, you get rewarded by unbeatable breathtaking views over Wadi Rum. After taking the time to enjoy the views, we head back down to the jeep.

Day 1 - Lunchtime

We drive to a quiet and picturesque place where we take our lunch break. Your guide prepares a Bedouin lunch for you on the spot. After lunch, there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own.

Because of the days being short during wintertime, we continue the tour right after lunch. Likewise, during summertime, we take an extended break to wait for the heat of the day to go.

Day 1 - In the afternoon

We start the afternoon by visiting a Roman dam to see how they built dams to save water for the dry months. Then we drive to Barrah canyon. Get mesmerized by this stunningly beautiful canyon while you walk through it. Because of the variety in this canyon, the 1,5 to 2 hours hike most likely will feel too short. As the sun starts to go down, it is time to take the car for a beautiful drive through the yellow and red desert as we head to Um Sabatah. There we finish the tour and day by watching the sunset.

In the communal tent, we serve you a traditional Bedouin dinner. There is no set program during the evening. You can spend time in the communal tent, or, during warm days, in the outside sitting area. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music, you can talk with other guests, or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.

Overnight stay 'sleeping under the stars' (bivouac camping)

After the sunset, we go to our ‘cave’ where we stay overnight. While you enjoy the stunning views from our ‘cave’ and see the nightfall (who spots the first star?), your guide cooks you a traditional Bedouin dinner.

You can spend the evening sitting and chatting around the firepit. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music, you can talk with other guests, or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.

Day 2 - In the morning

It is worth checking when the sun will rise (you can ask us too). Whether you sleep in our camp, near our camp, or in our ‘cave’, the sunrise is something you don’t want to miss. You can ask us for the best places where you can watch the sunrise. At 7 AM, breakfast is ready for you. Afterward, we pack our things and return to Rum village. You arrive at our office between 8 and 8.30 AM. After the check-out, we say goodbye, and you can continue your journey.

What our guests say about the desert tour Burdah rock bridge

We had a great 24 hours with Wadi Rum Nomads. Our guide was Abdullah and he was fantastic. We did the Burdah Rock bridge hike which was the highlight of the trip. There was some scrambling involved and Abdullah was so helpful in guiding my two younger girls - ages 9 and 11. The overnight camp was so nice to come back to after an unseasonably cold and windy day (it was cold everywhere in Jordan that day). The hot fire, warm tea and friendly atmosphere were so nice. We spent hours in the tent chatting with fellow travelers. The dinner that evening and the breakfast the following morning were delicious! I highly recommend this company. They were organized and professional. If you like hiking, the Burdah Rock bridge hike should not be missed!

As a group of four we visited in late February for a one day and one night trip. We had a brilliant time from start to finish, and the whole team was professional, welcoming, and friendly. We did a morning jeep tour followed by lunch and a hike, and then we caught the sunset before heading to the comfortable camp for a delicious dinner. The next morning we had breakfast before driving back to the village. Take plenty of warm clothes as the temperature changes dramatically during the day and night. If you are looking for an adventure in a truly beautiful, unspoiled location then this is the trip for you. Big thanks to Fawaz, Bianca, and especially Rashid!

Very nice day&night tour in the desert. We drove with "Fufu", he was very nice and funny. He made a delicious lunch on a fire for us. The trip to the Burdah rock bridge was quite steep, but we could do it without any problem. And the views from the top are amazing! The camp was very clean, the bathroom and toilets are like in 5* hotels. And the dining room was very well heated. Further, we talked a lot with Bianca, Abdulino and the others. Very nice evening. No WiFi, no connection... you just enjoy the time and the desert. Amazing tour agency! Go with them and you wont regret 😉
