Tour description Wadi Rum desert tour Wadi Sabet

The 2-days and 2-nights Wadi Rum desert tour Wadi Sabet is for active travelers who love to hike and scramble and visit both the famous and off the beaten track places.

The first day we go on a jeep tour to visit some of the most famous sites in the protected area. All in all, it is an active day full of variety. For the overnight stay, you can opt for our camp, Wadi Rum Base Camp, or the more adventurous bivouac camping (sleeping outside).

The second day we head to the lesser-visited areas of Wadi Rum. In the morning you hike in a canyon and wadi. Then we head to Wadi Sabet for our lunch break. Afterward, we visit a Bedouin storage place and watch over the vast Wadi Sabet. Next we go to Um Ghdah where you hike through another beautiful canyon. Then we visit Double bridge. And after enjoying the sunset, we head to Wadi Rum Base camp for your second night under the stars.

The detailed Wadi Rum desert tour Wadi Sabet plan

Day 1 - Meeting point and start time

We will meet at our office in Rum village for the check-in at 9.30 AM. We enjoy Bedouin tea and talk about what we have in mind for the day and night. After finishing our drink, there is time for the final preparations. Afterward, at 10 AM, we leave Rum village to go out into the desert.

Day 1 - In the morning

A short ride brings us to the natural spring called Lawrence spring. You scramble up the mountain site to the spring from where you enjoy the spectacular views of Wadi Rum. We continue our drive and head to the nearby red dune. Here you can climb the dune, enjoy more stunning views, and enjoy running down. Our next stop is Khazali canyon, which is famous for the ancient inscriptions and waterholes. Another short drive brings us to the first rock bridge of the day, Little bridge. We scramble up the bridge and enjoy the marvelous valley views. The last site we visit in the morning is Lawrence house.

Day 1 - Lunchtime

We drive further into the desert to a quiet and picturesque place where we take our lunch break. Your guide prepares a Bedouin lunch for you on the spot. After lunch, there is time to take a rest or walk around to explore the area on your own.

Because of the days being short during wintertime, we continue the tour right after lunch. Likewise, during summertime, we take an extended break to wait for the heat of the day to go.

Day 1 - In the afternoon

We start the afternoon with a beautiful drive to the Mushroom rock. After a short stop, we continue our ride through the yellow desert to the point from where we can see the Burdah rock bridge. Of course, we take time to admire the rock bridge. Then we drive to the surprisingly green and narrow Abu Khashaba canyon. You walk through the canyon. This delightful walk takes about half an hour to 45 minutes. Because you can only walk through this canyon, your guide drives around the mountain and waits for you on the other side of the canyon. Another short drive takes us to the Um Fruth rock bridge. A short but challenging scramble takes you up the bridge. As the sun starts to set quickly, we head to the Um Sabatah area, to watch the sunset.

Day 1 - The overnight stay

For your first overnight stay, we offer three options.

Sleeping in a tent in our camp
Wadi Rum Base Camp

If you prefer a comfortable night in a bed, our cozy camp is the place for you. Check out our camp page to read more about our home in the desert.

Sleeping outdoors near
Wadi Rum Base Camp

Are you looking for an comfortable but also unique overnight stay? Have the comfort of the camp and sleep under the billions of stars by booking this option.

Sleeping under the stars
(bivouac camping) in our 'cave'

Choose this option if you are in for an adventure. Check out our bivouac page to read more about our 'cave' and when it is available.

Overnight stay in Wadi Rum Base Camp

After the sunset, we bring you to our camp. You get a quick explanation about what is where, how our camp works, and we show you where you will be sleeping (your tent or outside sleeping spot near our camp). All so that you can feel at home right-way.

In the communal tent, we serve you a traditional Bedouin dinner. There is no set program during the evening. You can spend time in the communal tent, or, during warm days, in the outside sitting area. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music, you can talk with other guests, or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.

Overnight stay 'sleeping under the stars' (bivouac camping)

After the sunset, we go to our ‘cave’ where we stay overnight. While you enjoy the stunning views from our ‘cave’ and see the nightfall (who spots the first star?), your guide cooks you a traditional Bedouin dinner.

You can spend the evening sitting and chatting around the firepit. We can tell you about Bedouin culture and music, you can talk with other guests, or you can gaze into the starry night sky and enjoy the peaceful silence of the desert.

Day 2 - In the morning

It is worth checking when the sun will rise (you can ask us too). Whether you sleep in our camp, near our camp, or in our ‘cave’, the sunrise is something you don’t want to miss. You can ask us for the best places where you can watch the sunrise. At 7 AM, breakfast is ready for you.

Afterward, we drive through the beautiful desert to Um Mugur. It is a scenic drive through the red desert. Therefore you might want to keep your camera ready. Your guide will drop you off at the start of the yellow sand canyon. While you hike and scramble through it, your guide drives around to the canyon’s other end. There he waits for you to arrive. In the canyon, you can, amongst others, discover different types of desert vegetation. Next, we drive onward to Wadi Nuqra. The wadi invites you for a good hike. Your guide will drive to the end of the wadi and wait for you there. Take your time for this hike and let the desert landscape and views mesmerize you. Afterward, we drive to Wadi Sabet.

Day 2 - Lunchtime

We go to a quiet and picturesque place in Wadi Sabet where we take our lunch break.

Day 2 - In the afternoon

We start the afternoon with a scenic drive to one of the most beautiful viewpoints over Wadi Sabet. We first take a look at an old Bedouin storage place. Then we walk to a ridge to take in the exquisite views over Wadi Sabet. We continue onwards to Um Ghdah. There you will be dropped off at the start of the canyon—time to stretch your legs again. While you hike through the canyon, your guide drives to the other end to wait for you there. Next, we continue to Double bridge. And after a stop there, we get in the jeep for one more fantastic ride. Now we head to Um Sabatah. There we finish the tour and day by watching the sunset.

Day 2 - The overnight stay

For your second overnight stay, we offer two options.

Overnight stay in Wadi Rum Base Camp

After the sunset, we bring you to our camp. If this is your first night in our camp, you get a quick explanation about what is where, how our camp works and we show you where you will be sleeping (your tent or outside sleeping spot near our camp). All so that you can feel at home right-way. And if this is your second night in our camp, you are already at home.

Day 3 - In the morning

If you missed the sunrise yesterday, today is your last chance to see the sunrise. At 7 AM, breakfast is ready for you. Afterward, we pack our things and return to Rum village. You arrive at our office between 8 and 8.30 AM. After the check-out, we say goodbye, and you can continue your journey.

What our guests say about the Wadi Rum desert tour Wadi Sabet

When visiting Wadi Rum, go with Wadi Rum Nomads! Visiting this beautiful part of Jordan has been one of our best travel adventures ever. During our tour we were guided by the most amazing tour guide Nawaf and the rest of the crew. The vintage Landcruiser really added so much to the desert adventure and sleeping under the stars was simply a one-of-a-kind experience. The company was so helpful in arranging the trip, and they are so knowledgeable about the nature around them. They taught us a lot. To some, the luxurious camps with private hot tubs may be appealing, but if you are looking for a true and authentic feel you have to stay at the basecamp of Wadi Rum Nomads. The tents are great with very warm blankets, all facilities are impeccably clean and well taken care of. The food throughout the day was so fresh and prepared with so much attention on a small open fire and at the camp, it was just as delicious with a variety of flavors and local ingrediënts. There was music around the fire and great conversations with the guides who were so nice to get along with and happy to share the beautiful wisdom and tales of their lives in this remote part of the planet. Thank you so much for these days. Forever in our hearts

We had a fantastic three nights stay with Wadi Nomads -- five stars all around! Excellent communication (before and during our stay), beautiful and clean premises, local knowledge and insights, and delicious food! Our tour guide gave interesting history and details about different sites. As a bonus, he had a great sense of humor and creative photography suggestions. We appreciated all the thoughtful, deliberate ways in which Nomads works towards sustainable tourism for their business and the area. It was a memorable stay in the Wadi Rum desert. Highly recommend and planning ourselves for a trip back!

I spent two nights and two days here and can undoubtedly say it was the highlight of my trip to Jordan. I was traveling solo and the Wadi Rum Nomads team were very accommodating and let me join with other groups. When I went in March it was still slightly cold but the team did everything to make sure this wasn't a hindrance to experiencing the desert at all. Both my guides Sahar and Nawaf were excellent to spend the day with; their love for the desert was infectious. I also really enjoyed the food, and as a vegetarian, it was very easy to eat the local food without extra accommodation. My only regret is that I didn't stay here longer.
